FRAME 3)
← Back
A global representation of a more or less extended class of objects or concepts.
M. BODEN states: " Frames, as defined in AI, are hierarchical, for they can include lower-level frames – as 'vertebrate' includes 'bird' and 'house' includes 'room' . Various slots are defined within the frame, and specific instances of the general class in question are represented by having different details in the (Iow-level) slots in the frame. A programmed frame will include suggestions for moving around within the relevant part of conceptual space" (1990, p.99).
Current AI frames are to date more limited than human mental frames.
