MESO- 1)4)
← Back
A prefix that indicates that some entity corresponds to an intermediate level in a classification.
Such classification can be temporal or spatial.
For ex. "mesolithic" is more recent than paleolithic, but older than neolithic, in archeology.
In space dimensions, meso- is bigger than micro- and smaller then macro-, or mega-. M. BUNGE f. ex. describes a big business or a university as mesosocial systems, inbetween families (micro-social) and transnational businesses or the United Nations (mega-social) (1995, p.35)
