PERCEPTION (Constancy of) 2)3)
← Back
K. LORENZ emphasizes the importance of acquired constancy of perception as a condition for survival of living systems. He distinguishes particularly constancy of form, of direction and of color (but various other types of perception could be mentioned) and more or less equates the process of constancy acquisition to the formation of Gestalt (1962, p.44- 47).
Living systems do progressively construct and stabilize perceptive algorithms, probably through organization of neural networks.
Constancy of perception is obviously an extremely important aspect of organizational closure, autopoiesis and autonomy.
