SIGMOID 2)
← Back
"A function that has a low, shallow slope initially, followed by a steeper rise that gives way to another shallow slope" (M. CAUDILL, 1992, p.15)
The author comments: "Its value always increases as its input increases, yet at the same time it is bounded by minimum and maximum values" (Ibid).
The sigmoid is characteristic of the logistic equation. It reflects a growing dominance of some negative feedback in the process.
