STATE EQUATION and STATE FUNCTION 2)
← Back
J.L.LE MOIGNE clearly distinguishes both, as follows: "A systems state function allows to understand its structural dynamics, while its state equation expresses its cinematics.
"The state equation implies the availability of the register of parameter programs of a given structure, which could be used as the framework for the description of the "Système Général"'s trajectory. The structural state function implies changing the frame of reference. (in this case) The structure is variable, as it is processed by the fields of variable intensity which affect the system. The frame of reference is now the environment, plastered with morphogenetic fields" (1977, p.172).
It would certainly be interesting to harmonize the concepts of state function with those of organizational closure (F. VARELA), hypercyle (M. EIGEN) and slaving principle (H. HAKEN).
